Dr. Harwood attended the University of South Alabama and Troy University before completing his undergraduate and Podiatric Medical degrees at the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine (SCPM) in Chicago. After becoming a podiatric physician, Dr. Harwood completed a one year Podiatric Residency at the Bronx Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC). It was here that he developed expertise in wound treatment as well as diabetic foot treatments. He also completed an extensive two year residency at St. Clair’s Hospital and Health Center in New York City. During this residency, he honed his surgical skills and developed protocols for foot treatment and care for professional dancers and other athletes.

Dr. Harwood returned to the Southeast in 1996 to service underserved communities that he had identified during his undergraduate training. He was the first podiatric physician to establish a local presence in several Alabama communities. Dr. Harwood is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Currently he is the Carrier Advisory Committee Chairman for the Alabama Podiatric Medical Association where he served as president for four years.

Dr. Egly graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine (SCPM) with a degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency at the Residency Foundation associated with Baylor University of Houston, Texas. In Texas, Dr. Egly trained under Dr. Stephen Barrett, the co-inventor of the Endoscopic Decompressions of the Intermetatarsal Neuromas. Dr. Egly co-authored a scientific paper in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery that analyzed the anatomy of the plantar fascia and heel spur to aid in medical and surgical treatment of heel pain. Dr. Egly has trained many Podiatrists at seminars on how to perform the Endoscopic Plantar Fasciotomy Surgical procedure.

After successfully graduating from his surgical residency, Dr. Egly returned to his childhood home in Illinois and started private practice at Egly Foot Clinics in multiple locations southwest of Chicago. In 2007, Dr. Egly moved to the Gulf Coast to work with Dr. Harwood at Southeast Podiatry, bringing his 14 years of broad experience in treatment and surgery of the foot.

Dr. Egly and his wife Michelle have three children, a daughter Kristin Krohn (22) and two sons, Erik (18) and Thomas (14) Egly. Michelle owns and operates Gulf Coast Escape Room, with two locations in Gulf Shores, AL and Tallahassee, FL.
