Board-Certified Podiatric Surgeon
Dr. Harwood attended the University of South Alabama and Troy University before completing his undergraduate and Podiatric Medical degrees at the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine (SCPM) in Chicago. After becoming a podiatric physician, Dr. Harwood completed a one year Podiatric Residency at the Bronx Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC). It was here that he developed expertise in wound treatment as well as diabetic foot treatments. He also completed an extensive two year residency at St. Clair’s Hospital and Health Center in New York City. During this residency, he honed his surgical skills and developed protocols for foot treatment and care for professional dancers and other athletes.
Dr. Harwood returned to the Southeast in 1996 to service underserved communities that he had identified during his undergraduate training. He was the first podiatric physician to establish a local presence in several Alabama communities. Dr. Harwood is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Currently he is the Carrier Advisory Committee Chairman for the Alabama Podiatric Medical Association where he served as president for four years.
